Clipping 3: unbound echo extends from the installation unbound echo, developed in 2025 for Ma Yansong: Architecture and Emotion at Nieuwe Instituut, in which visitors' voices and sounds were collected and reverberated back into the exhibition space, transforming listeners into participants in a growing sonic archive.
This publication carries that inquiry into print, gathering poems, essays, and field notes drawn from ongoing research into acoustic space and echo as both material phenomenon and conceptual method, tracing how sound returns transformed rather than repeated, and what this might mean for questions of authorship, memory, and listening.
Edited together with Federica Notari, Cleo TSW, and Borbála Magdolna Pál, and developed with contributions by Emile Frankel, Pelumi Adejumo, and Vivian Wang. Graphic design by Catherine Hu and Cleo TSW, copyediting by Callum Dean. Printed and bound by nokiss in an edition of 350 copies.

This publication is part of Nieuwe Instituut's Through Sounds project.

Ongoing artistic research on this project is Supported by the Creative Industries Fund NL and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK).
