Filamental is a collective ensemble directed by pianist and composer Magda Mayas, bringing together distinctive voices in contemporary improvised music into a singular, cohesive unit. The ensemble works at the intersection of extended technique, texture, and collective listening, creating music that is sparse yet energetic, abstract, and deeply felt.
Members include Christine Abdelnour (alto sax), Anthea Caddy and Aimée Theriot-Ramos (cellos), Angharad Davies (violin), Rhodri Davies and Zeena Parkins (harps), Michael Thieke (clarinet), and Magda Mayas (composition, prepared piano).
