No.Estación.Arte (2009-14)

Community-building, skill-sharing, curatorial, research

The No.Estacion.Arte collective was born out of the need to create a space where sound art and experimental music could be produced and presented in my hometown city of Mérida, Yucatán. Our aim was to make experimental music accessible to a diverse community. We organized music classes and concerts in villages where access to education is scarce. We also held a weekly improvisation session open to anyone which happened uninterrupted for 3 years. During this time, networks and collaborations sparked within a diverse group of artists in the city and from abroad. No.Estacion.Arte served as a meeting point for people interested in socially engaged sound, art and music.

Video made by the local TV show Real Life in Merida, describing our educational work.
